WHERE?

AUGUST FOCUS.
This month Sian Powell, Exhibitions and Engagement Officer for Wheal Martyn (and once a Trainee Curator!) will be in discussion with the Future Museum Network. Sian has had amazing success with several social media campaigns, including a recent series of Tic Toc's that have gone viral. With 111.4K followers - reportedly more than Tate Modern or Madame Tussauds!
Social media has become a necessary tool for increasing audience engagement. What are people actually interested in and why? What impact can social media have? How can it highlight collections, exhibitions, or art works? How do you build and create interest through a campaign? Which platform is effective? How do you manage all of that?
We all know that social media can have a negative effect on wellbeing, not everyone has a phone, and some choose not to. What are the current ethics or questions, around how social media should best be used?
Many FMN participants have been involved in successful social media campaigns. It would be great to hear your stories and top tips. Please bring ideas, examples, and links to share - or come and get inspired.

Breaking down the usual jargon, giving you the basics on where and how to look for funding - and how to navigate funders websites and portals. Please bring ideas, examples and links to share - or come and get inspired. Future Museum Network hopes to help you, turn the project you've had bubbling in the back of your mind into reality...

APRIL FOCUS
Bring yourself. Bring ideas. Be the future authors. In the spirit of collaboration and co-production I would like to invite you to connect over the Future Museum Network programme for 2022 – 23.
Through a series of break out rooms and using the framework of Cornwall Museum Partnership’s core values of collaboration, innovation, inclusion and integrity, we can discuss and debate the topics and specialist speakers for the Future Museum Network over the next year.
Following that, it would be good to understand how you would like to receive information – through Zoom or IRL? More or less chat? Through a formal talk or more interactively? When have you most enjoyed or received radical learning from a network event? Together we can analyse and design Future Museum Network, better.
